Who we are
Hunchwell is an app that keeps a symptom diary for you. You tell it what you ate, did and felt, and it looks for what may be linked. In this policy, “Hunchwell”, “we” and “us” mean the team that makes the Hunchwell app and this website.
This policy covers the Hunchwell app for iPhone and Android, and this website. We treat everything you put into Hunchwell as health data, and this policy is also our consumer health data privacy policy.
What we collect
Data you give us
- Account details, such as your email address, the way you sign in, and a display name if you add one.
- What you log, such as food and drink, symptoms, mood, energy, sleep, medication, activity, readings like blood pressure, and notes.
- Your voice and text when you log an entry.
- Photos of meals or lab reports that you choose to add, and the lab values you confirm.
- Things you choose to tell us, such as symptoms you want to watch or conditions you already manage. We do not treat these as a diagnosis.
Data from your phone and devices, if you connect them
- Apple Health or Android Health Connect, such as sleep, steps, heart rate and workouts. Your phone asks for your permission first, and you choose what to share.
- Wearables, if you connect one.
- Approximate location, only if you turn on a feature that needs it, such as local weather. We round it to about 10 km and do not store it.
Data we collect automatically
- Usage data, such as which screens you open, to help us improve the app. It does not include health data.
- Error reports when something goes wrong. We remove health data before a report is sent.
- Subscription status. Apple or Google handle payments. We never see your card details.
- Device details needed to send notifications, if you allow them.
How we use it
- To turn what you say or type into log entries for you to check.
- To look for patterns between what you do and how you feel, and to show you the evidence.
- To write summaries of your data and to make reports you ask for, such as a doctor report.
- To send reminders and updates, if you allow notifications.
- To run your account and subscription, and to help you when you contact us.
- To keep Hunchwell secure, and to find and fix problems.
- To improve the app, using data that contains no health information.
We do not sell your data. We do not use your health data for advertising.
How the AI works with your data
Hunchwell uses AI to understand what you say, read your photos and write summaries. Patterns, numbers and scores are worked out by our own code.
- We send the AI only what it needs for each task. We do not send your name or email address.
- We choose AI providers that do not train their models on your data.
- The AI suggests. Your entries are saved only when you confirm them, for example by tapping “Looks right”.
How long we keep it
- Voice recordings are deleted right after they are turned into text.
- Meal photos are deleted after the foods are read, unless you choose to keep them.
- Lab report files are deleted as soon as the values are read. We never keep them.
- Your entries and lab values are kept until you delete them or your account.
- Data from connected services is kept until you disconnect the service or delete your account.
How we protect it
Your data is encrypted when it travels and when it is stored, and each account can reach only its own data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to protect yours. If a security problem affects your data, we will tell you as the law requires.
Your choices and rights
- Delete entries or your whole account in the app. Deleting your account deletes your data.
- Disconnect Apple Health, Health Connect or a wearable at any time. We then delete the data that came from it.
- Turn off notifications and location features in your phone's settings.
- Get a copy of your data, or a doctor report, from the app or by emailing us.
Depending on where you live, you may have more rights, such as the right to know what we hold about you, to correct it, or to withdraw your consent. To use any of these rights, email us at[email protected]. We will not treat you differently for using them.
Cycle data
If you track your cycle, that data is never used for analytics or error reports. You can delete it at any time.
Children
Hunchwell is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has given us data, email us and we will delete it.
Where your data is processed
Your data may be stored and processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers work. When data moves between countries, we use the protections the law requires.
